just a couple more

Tonight my sweet husband fixed us both a piece of cake and a couple of scoops of ice cream....about 10 pm....by 10:40 pm my feet were jumping and itching and burning and just plain being miserable. So after trying to control them (HAH) I finally got up and came in the livingroom. At least here I am not in danger of kicking Ed!

Anyway I decided to blog the newest creations in my necklaces. Including one that is still in the creative state...unfinished. However its close enough for you to be able to get the idea of how it is going to look.
I am calling it crimson serpent...it's focal point is a three inch glass snake with golden glimmers. I have beaded two ten inch strands with orange and gold beadwork and threaded them through golden loops. This will be attached to 8 strands of orange seed beads which will in turn be attached to more gold loops without the beadwork. It should be really striking by the time I am done with it. I haven't started thinking out the earrings yet . I have to run over to Ben Franklin tomorrow morning and buy some gold toned 'cones' to thread the seed beads into. This is going to be one of my "One of a Kind Series" - I will post it when I get it finished.

This is an older one that I lost the earrings for so I made new ones. I also corrected a small error on the necklace that needed to be done - so my Black Rose necklace is back out on the market.
I had this picture on my last post - but it was so shaded you couldn't really appreciate the depth of the pendant (two feathers bent together at the top, layered in silver, then copper, then gold.

This is a very busy but very beautiful piece I made for a very dear friend. She picked out the design and the color scheme and said she wanted big beads for it - so I went to work and made this gorgeous necklace that is composed of two strands of beadwork (with charms) and a middle strand of gold chain. A different gold chain is connected to this three strands and it goes in a single chain around the neck. In this picture you can see the single dangle earrings I made to match.
The second pair of earrings are dangles of various sized translucent leaves (they match some of the charms on the necklace) that you can see on the upper left of this picture. The necklace closes with a gold toned rose toggle closure. There is a fun matching bracelet on the top right of this picture made with memory wire... So this set comes with a necklace, bracelet and two pair of earrings. I made the dangling leaves set first and then decided that maybe they were too busy so I made the simple ones next to let the recipient choose. I named the set Diana's Delight

Last but not least is this one called Lavender Beauty. The outside strand is made up of tear drop amethyst stones and the inside strand is made of amethyst chips. The middle strand is 4mm Swarovski crystals in two tones of lavender. It has a magnet closure at the back. The earrings are beaded stones and crystals hanging off silver chain.

Finally Something New!

I can't believe that its been over three months since I last posted new jewelry! But there was definitely a slow slow period where I think I had decided no one liked my creations so why bother. I know now that was in conjunction with the months of illness I went through this Spring and I simply didn't feel like 'creating' anything.
Once I got my office moved from downstairs to an upstairs room where I could sit down and play with beads anytime I wanted things have changed. I have wonderful sunlight that pours in through the window giving me excellent lighting and that really helps.

I did run into one glitch this last month however and that was on the necklace below. It was a special order and I think I remade the entire necklace at least five times. Amazing. The lady I was making it for wanted first of all - a solid necklace because she is allergic to most metals - so she picked out the pink tones she loved and we decided on sterling silver findings. The style she picked did not work well - she wanted about six dangles of beads coming off the bottom of the necklace and no matter how I tried it didn't look good. So then I took the dangles and tried to make delicate loops - nope, nada, no way. Finally I simply took the 'dangles' that I had made in separate pieces and hooked them together with sterling silver links. So pretty, so delicate - I hope she likes it.
Pink Delight -
This is Donna's necklace - the one I worked on for three weeks! And it is much prettier than the photo shows. It is made up of Swarovski crystals, other crystals, pink pearls, and sterling silver spacer beads. Each grouping of 11 beads were strung on short pieces of 19 string wire and finished at each end with sterling silver spring beads. The S hook connector on the necklace is sterling silver as are all other findings in the piece. The earrings are two separate dangles connected in the center so they will move separately of one another. By the way, the pretty flowers were picked for me by my sweet husband while we were camping in the mountains last weekend.

Feathers of Gold
One of a Kind Series!

Stunning 1 1/2 inch pendant of metallic feathers (gold, copper and silver) sets the stage for this sparkling gold toned necklace and earring set. I made this necklace in a matter of two days as I again started with an idea that just simply didn't look good. I decided to take the idea from the Pink Delight necklace above and create separate sections of beads, one in silver, one in copper and one in gold. As I laid them out I was not happy with the clash of the different colored sections. Gorgeous as each of them were, it overwhelmed the pendant and made it tooooo busy. So I made the first section of small spacer beads in the three metals and then stayed with the gold tones for the rest of the necklace. The color combination repeats itself throughout the 19 inch necklace that is beaded in separate pieces to lay softly around your neckline. The flowered magnet closure adds t the overall design. Hypoallergenic fish hook earring wires hold a single dangle of matching beads. $24.oo set

Jasper Elegance
There was a fantastic tree trunk at our campsite this last week up in the mountains. I was amazed how it 'set' the necklaces off. So often many of the backgrounds I use for the jewelry seem to throw back extra light but this tree stump seemed to absorb it and leave the beauty of the necklace. This necklace is made from polished jasper rocks in all colors. I have taken various colors and shapes of the rock and separated them with antique gold toned spacer beads. The 22 inch necklace closes with a beautiful rose toggle hook that is not shown in this picture. The earrings are a simple dangle of three smaller jasper pieces so it won't be too heavy for the fish hook earring wires.Jasper Illusion

As with the necklace above (Jasper Elegance) this necklace is created around the natural beauty of polished jasper. This 33 inch necklace combines many sections of triple stones that are beaded with antique gold toned spacer beads spread out on 19 strand necklace wire and has a magnet closure. The combination of stones and delicacy is fantastic. The matching hypoallergenic earrings are a quadruple drop of the smallest stones I had so as to avoid being to heavy. This gorgeous set sells for $20.
Black Iridescence

This necklace started out to be another illusion style necklace but as I was making it I realized how beautiful it was just sliding across the 19 strand necklace wire I had put it on. The 19 inch length is perfect for this style as it lays at your collar bone and sparkles as you move. The magnet closure has a cute handmade hand charm to help you find the closure at the back of your neck for easy removal. The hypoallergenic earrings of silver tone fish hooks are a single dangle. $17.50 per set

Pink Sparkly Illusion Necklace and Earring Set
Soft Pink Swarovski crystals lay softly against your neck just above the collar bone to create a sparkle of beauty. The 19 inch necklace has a magnet closure with a double heart charm to help you locate the closure when you are wearing the necklace. The matching earrings are a single drop of large and small soft pink Swarovski crystals. $20.00 a set.

DaVinci Charms Peach
Necklace and Bracelet Set
This is one of the few necklaces I have that are not hand made. I ordered them online thinking the beads were cute and fun - when they arrived I found them very heavy and decided to sell them as is. Then I started seeing them on sale in different stores - The bracelet and matching necklace sell for $16.00 a set or $10 each.
DaVinci Charms Blue and Green
Necklace and Bracelet Set
Again, these are not hand made. I ordered them online thinking the beads were cute and fun - when they arrived I found them very heavy and decided to sell them as is. Then I started seeing them on sa00le in different stores - The bracelet and matching necklace sell for $16.00 a set or $10 each piece (And yes, I know the picture is a bit blurry but I wanted you to have a close up of the beads )
Copper Marble Necklace and Earring Set
This 21” necklace is made of copper toned materials. Starting with a 19 strand copper necklace wire it combines large marble and white toned oval beads that are highlighted with a combination of bright copper mini ovals, a sparkling translucent toned cut bead and a long circular rectangle bead that compliments the copper tones throughout the necklace The necklace has a toggle closure . Hypoallergenic copper toned fish hook wires have a triple drop dangles of chain and the some of the same beads as the necklace. It doesn’t have the large oval stone due to the weight of the stone - they are too heavy for earrings . The set sells for $22.

Garnet Chunks w/ Silver Chain
Two necklaces and one pair of earrings. The shorter necklace is made up of deep burgundy toned rocks, iridescent crystals, flat burgundy squares all interspersed with silver toned balls of striated metal. The 12 ½ inches of beadwork is then connected to 11 inches of interwoven silver toned chain creating a lovely necklace that is 23 ½ in length. The matching chain necklace can be worn either with the beaded necklace or separately and is 28 inches in length. Both necklaces have magnet closures The hypoallergenic earrings are a single dangle of the same stones. $26.00 for ALL Again - I need to retake this picture as we lose the necklace in the background.

I promise not to take three months to post new pictures. In fact, as I try to post this blogspot isn't letting me post them! More work to come...on this site plus on new necklaces!

A whole bunch of new necklaces!

More Pretties!! and Remember
- everything is 20% off the regular price!!

We spent part of January and February in Quartzsite Arizona where I found lots of fun beads and rocks and charms. We went to Mexico one day (it was a balmy 72 degrees!! Loved it since Quartzsite had been cool and rainy for the four weeks we were there!) I bought several gold necklaces in Algadones and was promised they were Guadalajara gold - it even has 14k imprinted on the lobster claw closure. But I am not charging big dollars for this necklace - I am treating it as if it is a nice gold toned chain.

The crystal pendant has a stem of gold toned leaves crossing it. Within the leaves are rhinestone flowers.

The earrings are a single dangle of golden bead with silver crystal bead and then another golden bead - this dangle hangs from a squarish fish hook style earring head with a pounded gold head on it- it is of course hypoallergenic. The necklace and earrings set will sell for $20.00

This one is called Silver Lace and it is a necklace that will dress up anything you want to wear with it. It is simply a swirly metal hoop that fits around your neck and it has a gorgeous lacy silver pendant hanging off of it with soft lavender rhinestones imbedded it it. I have added simple silver toned one inch hoop earrings to add rather than detract from the delicacy of this necklace. The necklace and earrings are priced at $14.50 for the set. Remmember anything you order from this site is still 20% off ...so that makes it just $12 for the necklace and earrings.

Kecia picked out the beads and design for this necklace set. It is called Pink Dragonflies because of the cute silver dragonflies on the pink glass pendant. It is an illusion necklace made up of pink and lavender beads highlighted with silver toned spacer beads.

The necklace is 19 inches in length and closes with a magnet closure for an easy on and off. The earrings are simple Swarovski Crystal drops from a hypoallergenic fish hook style earring. It sells for $16.00 for the set.
This year charm necklaces are all the rage - I made this one so it sets above the neckline and it is a flat black metal necklace of chains connected to several charms. I called it Black Rose because of the main charm - there are four charms hanging off the side of the necklace - Not shown are earrings made up of chain and the hand charms . It sells for $25 due to the more expensive charms.
This necklace started out as a purse charm with the three main beaded dangles hanging off a short chain to hang off a purse or a back pack - then I decided they were too delicate so I turned it into a necklace - I matched the beadwork from the dangles partway up the side of the main necklace and connected it all to a beautiful silver toned chain that goes over the head. The earrings are triple drops of matching beads but are surprisingly lightweight. This necklace sells for $18 for the set and is called Soft Pink Charms.
Cobalt Cloisonee - Cloisnonee is a decoration on a bead with gold braid making a design and then painted in and around the braid - and sealing it all with a clear glaze. The butterflies in this necklace are cloisonee (pronounced Cloy-son-ay). Again I have dangles of beadwork hanging from a combination of chain and more beadwork - this time I have seed beads in tones of blue strung from an antique silver cone to one at the other end also. This necklace is also made to go over your head. The earrings again are triple drop dangles. Of course if any of the necklaces are too long or too short - I can fix them for you just the way you want them....same thing goes with earrings - some of us like one or one and a half inch dangles - others like them longer. Just tell me how you want it. This set sells for $20 for necklace and earrings.
Ribbons of Gold - I found the topaz and gold 'pin' first and then went looking for an antique chain that would do it justice. I have made the necklace so that the 'pin' sets off center - it is a pin but also a pendant ....and has been wired into the chain. The heavy chain is just part of the whole necklace with a single row chain going up and behind the neck. You can see it in the earrings as I used that chain to drop three dangles off an antique gold fish hook earring. As always my earring fish hooks and studs are hypoallergenic. The set sells for $28.00 and is on sale for Mother's Day for only $20!!!! What a bargain!
This is one of my favorites - I used the beads in a simple necklace of solid beads this winter but was never happy with it so I took it apart and made an illusion necklace out of it - and it is called Mint Delight. This set sells for only $16.oo
This next necklace comes in a choice of pendant colors. I have made it up with the blue Dichroic Lily but I can change it out to any of the colors shown below - they are all black glass with copper splashes in and around the Lily. You have a choice of pink, peach, pale yellow, sky blue, turquoise blue, or green.

The pendant is hanging off a multistrand or cord and ribbon for a fun look. The necklace sells for $12.00 - no earrings, just the necklace.

Fun Day with Makae at her house!

I had a fun fun afternoon yesterday at Shawn and Kris's house with Makae and two other lifeline girls, Kennedy and Danae. Cute fun girls. Makae had wanted to do a self esteem class and thought that creating their own necklaces would be a positive for them and I think it was. They both wanted to creat necklaces like the one I was wearing with lotsof charms attached. It seems that chains with lots of dangling charms are the most popular necklace this season - I should have taken my camera and gotten pictures of their necklaces when they were done so that I could show you - They had a ball going through my chains and charms decinding which ones they wanted and Ethan had a ball just playing in the beads and rocks that I had in my boxes. Makae decided to make an illusion necklace with bright green beads and it turned out so beautifully. I could kick myself for not taking pictures - all three girls have to wait to be able to wear them until they earn 3rd phase, but they were proud of their creations. Both Kennedy and Danae did necklaces in silver tones, Danae's in antique silvers and Kennedy's in bright silver tones.

This is the necklace I made and wore on Sunday to work with Makae and her friends. I have since shortened the necklace by about six links on each side as I found the necklace laid better with the shortened chain. The charms were easier to see and they didn't all clump together down at the bottom. The earrings are surprisingly light weight even though there are three charms hanging off of antique gold chain on each earring. They clank just a little as you are wearing them and it is a fun happy sound.

This is a close up of all the charms. I would love to create lots of these but by the time you buy all the chain and all the charms it gets expensive ... I have at least $14 worth of material in this necklace and earring set alone. It will sell for $28.00 (less the 20% off if you order directly from me through either this site or the petalsoftjewelry@willden.org email site.)

This is another style of charm necklace and I love it. I have taken amber rock (real rocks that have been tumbled and drilled to create a bead and created a charming necklace with chains and beadwork and charms. As you can see, the chain is of antique gold tone chain and runs halfway around the neck and the charms dangle off of it at the bottom of the necklace

This is a closeup of the other half of the necklace - this beadwork goes up one side of your neck and is made up of amber rocks, freshwater pearls and an iridescent bead that creates a little bit of sparkle in the necklace. You can see the earrings in the top half of this picture and they are a single dangle made up of the pearls, the gold toned spacer beads and the sparkly iridescent bead all hanging off of an antique gold stud. It pulls the whole necklace set together. It will sell for $25.oo

On a Roll!

I worked on four necklaces yesterday and my elbows are still aching from it. Oh Well - I guess I need to just do one necklace a day. But a couple of them were very simple so I kept pushing to get them finished.

This 30 inch necklace was created with a heavier chain and a large 3 inch in diameter charm that is made up of silver and black with a rhinestone gleaming quietly. I didn't make matching earrings for this one - I have included a purchased set of silver and black stud earrings as seen below. This set will sell for $16.00

This group of necklaces are an interesting conglomeration! The newest style of necklace that everyone is wearing are what I call charm necklaces - gobby combinations a lot of the time. I saw some last week that I tried to reproduce yesterday. Actually I have tried making backpack or purse charms but they don't hold up the the banging around that they get so I haven't sold any of them. I am trying to use heavier duty stuff but the spring rings are simply too weak and they break. However, I took one of them apart and created the Black Moon Charm Necklace - I like it and hope you do too. In the future you will see additional attempts of charm necklaces as I have a lot of different ideas -

The chain is a nice necklace chain that I cut pieces off of one end so I could add the danglies - then I beaded a five inch section with black cloissoine beads and silver spacers to add interest to the left side of the necklace. It has a lobster claw closure above the charms but at 27 inches it is long enough to go over your head. The earrings are a simple dangle of the cloissoine bead and silver spacers. The set will sell for $20.00

In the last blog I had made and posted a necklace called "Nested Pearl". I explained that these pearls were created in the oyster as a spec of sand nestled on the hinge part of the clam shell and so instead of a perfect round oyster you had a bumpy flat'ish' disfigured pearl - much bigger but for years was considered waste. Finally someone realized the beauty of these pearls and I was able to purchase four of them already set in silver toned settings.

I took this nested pearl and simply put it on a snake style silver toned chain - The 19 inch chain was purchased with a lobster claw closure but I removed that and put a magnet closure for easier wearing. I put the earrings that I had made for my first nested pearl with this necklace as it was too busy for the first necklace. This is a much more comfortable set and I called it Simply Pearls because it is just that. The set will set for just $18...and of course I can make any type of earrings for it that you would like

Here is the first necklace and I made simple drop earrings for it as the loops made it too busy.
The freshwater pearls that I beaded have such a small opening I can't put them on the pin that I use to create a coil wrapped piece so I had to use a normal pearl that is the same tones as the nested pearls. And of course the filligreed silver tone spacer beads match. Though this necklace is only 18 inches and nestles right at the base of your throat it can be made two or four inches longer if you desired.

This is another of the nested pearls, but instead of being white or creamy it has the greyish mother of pearl look - So I added grey freshwater pearls, and iridescent pony beads in purple and green and grey and blue with silver spacer beads. The 20 inch necklace has a magnet closure and triple drop earrings on hypoallergenic fish hook wires and will sell for $20.00
The final necklace here is one I made in Quartzsite one day - and packed it up with my other necklaces and forgot all about it until I was organizing them on Monday. It had never been photographed or listed ... or even named.

I had bought the iridescent crystals at the RV show (of all places) and sat down and created an illusion necklace with them. The groupings of iridescent beads and silver spacers are spread out and look much prettier on than they do in the picture. They sparkle so beautifully. With matching earrings this set sells for only $15.00

Busy day...creating stuff is so fun

Yeah - it is so much fun to let the ideas roll and see what I can create - I bought a LOT of beads down in Arizona because they were so inexpensive ($2 a strand compared to $6 or $8 up here)...I could kind of picture what I wanted to do with stuff as I bought it and now here it is...

I need to try and retake the pictures on the black velvet background - I know this first necklace would show better. The main bead on this triple strand illusion necklace was bought on Maui - it is a small oval mother of pearls. Ever since October when we purchase these beads I have been looking for the something to compliment it and I found some greyish fresh water pearls in Quartzsite and today I laid out the beads and finally decided I needed three strands of illusion wire and I inserted a couple of spacers 2/3 of the way down both sides of the necklace to keep it from getting too tangled. I spend hours making this one - probably a good 2 1/2 hours on the necklace and then another hour on the dangly earrings. But it turned out good.

The first picture above shows the whole necklace and earrings - the 2nd picture gives you a close up of all the beads. Row 1 has the flat oval beads and a grey irridescent round oval bead. Row 2 has the gray mother of pearl interspersed with a seafoam green irridescent 4 mm Swarovski crystal, and the inner row is simply an irridescent pale blue 4mm Swarovski crystal. It lays around your neck so softly. I think I will name it "Out of the Sea Necklace and Earring set. It will sell for $30 due to the high cost of the flat oval mother of pearl beads, but it is well made with 19 strand necklace wire and magnet closure.

This is a necklace I bought!! It is simply a typle of 'thread' that a lady I know in Quartzsite buys and instead of crocheting with it (I have a scarf that I bought last year from her out of the same type of material) she has created a fun, pull over your head necklace! This one will sell for $15
When we went to Mexico I bought some gold necklaces -they are Guadalajara Gold and have 14k stamped in them.
So I found a pretty pendant and created this pretty - with matching earrings.
The crystal pendant has a stem of gold toned leaves crossing it. Within the leaves are rhinestone flowers. The earrings are a single dangle of golden bead with silver crystal bead and then another golden bead - this dangle hangs from a squarish fish hook style earring head with a pounded gold head on it. This set will set for $20.00

This necklace is made up of natural rocks - mainly jasper- I need help with a name for it - any ideas? It nestles at the base of your throat, just perfect to accent a V necked collar. I didn't use the heavy round jasper beads or the bigger oval rocks for the earrings because that would make it tooo heavy in your ears. I just took the accent bead along with some antique gold spacer beads and created a dainty pretty set of earrings to match. The materials in this grouping would cause the necklace set to sell retail for $25.00
