Quartzsite Beauties

I've been busy here at Quartzsite - Its too cold to go hiking or four wheeling so I sit in the trailer and read and make jewelry.  Its a rough life I know.

Three of these six items are made from some of the shells we found in Florida.

Feather Earrings - the Long and the Short of It!
But, first of all - here are some FUN earrings....Made with brown and white and grey toned fleathers and copper chain you have a 'short' earring that is about 5 1/2 inches in length with a cute copper key hanging off of the bottom.  The other earring is a full 10 inches plus!!! in length!  Again, the feathers, the chain, and the key, plus a dangle a the bottom of the earring with sparkles and a small stone.  Wonderful stocking stuffer for those teenagers in your family....I am selling them for $15 on etsy but on sale on my blogger site for $10.

Goldstone Wire Wrap

This necklace is made of goldstone,  jasper stone, chinese crystals and copper beads.  The pendant is a beautiful one inch piece of goldstone that I have wire wrapped.  Be sure and double click on the picture to be able to fully appreciate the beauty of this necklace and earring set.  The earrings are made with the same fun beads and copper toned hypoallergenic fish hooks.  $20

Wild Seashell Necklace and Earring Set

Ed found this seashell at Haullover Beach and it simply fascinated me.  I had to use it for a necklace.  I used chinese crystals, pearls and brown stone elliptical beads.  Silver toned findings including a toggle closure complete this 19 inch necklace.  The pendant is an additional two inches in length.   $20

Wire Wrapped Florida Seashell
Another piece of broken seashell that I have wire wrapped in gold.  The jasper stones are cut and polished beautifully.  Antique goldtoned

Blue Goldstone Necklace and Earring Set

There is a new store in town - open year round with rows and rows and rows of gorgeous beads.  Thank Heavens we were in a hurry or else I would have been in big trouble.  I bought a strand of these BLUE Goldstone beads and created this 19 inch illusion necklace.  It has grey/blue pearls, silver dragonflies and blue goldstone cubes.  $20

Pearl and Seashell Wire Wrapped Necklace and Earring Set

Last but not least is this beautiful shell piece that I wrapped in a rose gold copper wire.  The Necklace itself is 19 inches of beaded wire - pearls, shells, and peach cloisonee all attached to a double strand of copper chain.  $24 on Etsy - just $20 here.

Time to Blog!!

Not feeling well today so its been a lazy Sunday.  That being said I've been taking pictures of some of my necklaces that I have created in the last month or so (when I wasn't off playing)

This tan and grey shell is the focal point of this 32 inch necklace and hangs off center from the gold toned large link chain.  Actually I have two different chains hooked together for a funkier look.  The wire wrap on this shell is highlighted with a caged yellow stone.  On the opposite side of the necklace is another gold caged stone with flat diamond shaped grey stone beads...it hangs offsides and slightly above the shell piece.   If you go to my petalsoft jewelry Etsy site you can see several different views of this necklace.  $18.00 for this necklace.  As of right now I haven't got matching earrings but they wouldn't be hard to add for another $5.

This is an amazing set.  I started with a fascinating natural stone rock (in the center) and added some antique gold wire beads on each side and even more rocks...round ones, flat ones and the
coup de resistance are the large round cork beads (the tan and brown ones).  I have strung them all together and then added a chain that has a combination of antique gold and copper links.  The necklace is 18 inches with a toggle closure.  It seems to have an understated elegance and keeping in line with that I made the earrings as a simple dangle of the same chain - hypoagllergenic fish hooks.  $24.00
Feathery Fun in Pale Pink  - $18.00 set
Feathery Fun in yellow
Feathery Fun in Purple with Gold    .....                    and silver

I promise there aren't any more feathers - they seem to be real popular though and I can make them in hot pink and red and green and of course the natural tones...all of them sell for $18.00 a set

I can't remember which of the following I've posted and which I haven't...I think I am only duplicating ONE set...but here goes:
Burgandy Translucent Ring - this is an adjustable ring that was bought from a kit and made into this lucious ring - it is a translucent plastic several layers deep and wired together and onto the ring base.  The rosette is 2 inches in diameter.  It can be yours for only $8.00

Real amethyst polished stones are wired together with sterling silver wire wrapping and set off with hand made wire knots.  You have 60 inches of a beautiful chain interspered with these groupings of knots, and stones.   You can wear this in a double or triple drape.  I matched this necklace up with simple single dangle earrings so as not to distract from the beauty of the necklace.  The earrings are made of mini amethyst stones and purple swarovski crystals and sterling silver hooks.  $28.00

I know this is a repeat necklace but the program won't let me delete it.  I have taken aurora borealis rhinestones wrapped in silver bezels and combined them with Swarovski crystals and rhinestone studded rhondelles to make a 19 inch necklace just full of sparkles.  The earrings are also made up with the rhondelles and crystals handing from sterling silver fish hook earring wires.  $25.00
This Red Swarovski crystal necklace was supposed to be an illusion necklace but I liked it much better with everything strung at the bottom.  It is a very dainty necklace (the littlest silver beads are less than 1 mm in size and the crytals are only 6 mm each.  You can see different tones of red in each of the Swarovski crystals, however the crystal on the far is NOT orange.  Somehow the camera grabbed at that color.  The necklace starts with the deepest red crystals in the center going lighter towards each end.  The earrings are also made up of the same multiple tones of Swarovski crystals - three dangles hanging from a sterling silver hook.  The 19 inch necklace is made on my 19 strand necklace wire (yes, that  is 19 strands all wrapped into one).  It is my favorite wire to use to create my necklaces.  Most of your jewelry makers will use a simple fishing line that they tie into place.  I use the far more expensive necklace wire with crimp beads.  I have used a magnet closure on this necklace but also like to use toggle closures - anything but a lobster claw (those are the mangy little critters that are so impossible to keep open  while trying to grab that itsy bitsy jump ring on the other side.  $18.00

This necklace is 19 inches of a gorgeous polished Quartzsite black mini stone - lots and lots and lots of teensy rocks set off with antique silver and rhinestone rhondelles. Again I have used a magnet closure - so easy on and off but with a strong enough pull to keep it around your neck.  I have placed a delicate rhinestone charm from the closure area so you can find where to 'pull' the magnet apart.  The earrings are made up four dangles of  the teensy stones and all sorts of crystal beads - again using the sterling silver earring hooks.  $18.00
I promised no more feather necklaces this post but I didn't say anything about earrings.  I have only just begun with these gorgeous things.  The teenagers are wearing them 8 and 10 inches long, dangling off of their shoulder.
These two pair are only 5 1/2 inches long but they still make a statement.  The natural tones of these feathers look great with greys and  blacks and browns and tans etc.  My next post will have these same type of earrings with dangles of sparkles and chains added to them.  These are a steal at $8 a pair.  Many people have asked me if it doesn't drive me crazy with feathers tickling at me all the time but surprisingly enough they don't.  After you've had them on for maybe 20 seconds you don't even feel them anymore.
Remember that gorgeous chain that was a combination of copper and antique gold links - I have used it again to create this simple but beautiful seashell charm necklace.  The seashell has been highlighted around the edges with bright silver paint and is simply beautiful.  No matching earrings but a great price at $14.00

Don't forget!!!  Anything that you order by through my blog spot is 20% off the prices you see listed!!!  Just send me an email at petalsoftjewelry@willden.org.  There is a link at the upper right hand side of this blog - just click on it and drop me an email.  If you don't live close enough to have me deliver it to you, I can mail it to you for just $2 more.

Its about time!!!

I don't know why it is so hard to find time to post a few pictures to let you see what I have been up to...I guess mainly it is because Ed and I have been so busy camping all summer. Before we head out on our Caribbean Cruise I decided to add a few more pictures.

Ed and I headed to Cedar City this summer for a fun week with an young college roommate of many years ago (she is young...she is only three months older than I am!!) While perusing one of the many book shops that we wandered through Linda found a FUN book on how to make all sorts of charms ... I have made bottle cap charms and key charm s and poured resin charms and rolled clay charms and as soon as I replace the drill bit for my husband's drill (gee, that would be a nice Christmas present from someone who loves me...my very own drill!) I will make dice charms and scrabble block charms and bullet(!) charms. I am having fun!

Anyway - the Rosy Red charm necklace shown above has some of my homemade charms on it.
This necklace sparkles beautifull with the black, grey, and crystal chinese crystals wired into it. It is called Silver Links and is a lovely charm necklace
FEATHERS ARE IN~ this year everywhere you look you see feathers and so I started making gorgeous necklaces with hanging feathers. This is my Feathery Fun Necklace Set in Red - only $18.00
Now you see it in Turquoise....I also have made it up in green, pale pink, yellow, hot pink, and purple!!! What a fun way to stay in style.
I took a class this summer and learned how to do wire wrap. I did actually wrap two beautiful pendants but finally realized my eyesight was not good enough for that type of wire wrapping. So I learned a different way - This beautiful cracked marble pendant with crystals is wrapped with sterling silver wire and is simply gorgeous. It sells on my Etsy sight for $28.00 but I am putting it on sale here for just $22.00 (and that includes sterling silver earrings with it!)
Last but certainly not least is the Crystal Bezels...I have taken silver toned 4 petal filagrees and wrapped them around a crystal bezel. I strung it onto my favorite 19 strand necklace wire along with silver toned beads, Swarovski crystals and lovely little silver and rhinestone rhondells and created this stunning necklace with matching earrings. This set does sell for $28 for the set due to the cost of the many components.

Hope you enjoyed my newest creations. I made several more different necklaces but I have sold them!!!! Maybe I will find some fun new beads on my vacation

I've been busy

After suffering from 'writers block' for several months (!) I have now started creating necklaces with a vengeance. First of all I stopped in at Ben Franklin and they had some gorgeous necklace kits I fell in love with and had to buy one. I wasn't impressed with the instructions or all of the materials but with what I already had I managed to create this pink necklace. The flowers are made out of a translucent petal that I 'built' and attached to the lacy medallion.
I couldn't believe the compliments I got when I wore it to church on Sunday. The earrings are simple some of the necklace chain that I didn't use, dangling off of hypoallergenic ear wires. I immediately went back to Ben Franklin the next day and bought the green set.

It has a double chain with a toggle closure at the edge of the bronzed medallion. The whole necklace is 17 1/2 inches in length with a 2 1/2 inch drop with the pendant and dangling lilies. . I bought additional bronze 'chandeliers' in which I placed a lovely green swarovski crystal dangling making some really pretty earrings. There is one more kit with a orange flower that I need to get so as to have all three available for my clients. This set is listed on Etsy.com for $25.00

Saturday I took Makae birthday shopping and we bought her a cute turquoise shirt and a cute pink shirt. Rather than settle for the plain earrings at the jewelry shop I told her that I would make her a couple of pair.
This is the pink set - she should have received them in the mail today so I hope she liked them. Her blouse is pink with black and silver design and so I added the black beads with the hot pink and pale pink dangles all hanging off of a silver toned chain. She loves stars so I added the star charm.

She saw a pair of turquoise earrings at the mall with dream catchers. We looked at the bead store and only found one dream catcher...I guess I could have made a mismatched pair of earrings but we decided we liked the metal feathers just as well. You can see I am using chunk turquoise rock and lots of little silver toned beads. What do you think Makae??

I needed a simple fuschia necklace to go with a blouse I bought. Of course I really love the simple illusion necklaces and so I made this one for myself. I did make some fun dangling earrings to go with it...I could replicate this set for $18 for the set ($15 for friends on my blog!)
Kecia showed me a pair of hot pink shoes that she has that she needed a necklace for. I made this one for her (I only re-did it three times until I was happy with it!!) Now she has decided she wants another necklace so this one is available for $18/$15 also.

I made this set for a friend that is looking for a gift for another friend. She wanted BIG beads and that is what I have used. It would sell on Etsy for $22.00 a set. The earrings will probably drag the shoulders but that is the style her friend likes - bright and fun!

I had so much fun making the hot pink chunky necklace I decided to use the big turquoise beads I had. This necklace is 33 1/2 inches long, Although it could be shortened very easily. The matching earrings are made with mini chain and three dangles. This set would sell on Etsy for $25.00

Now for the most fun. When Makae and I stopped at the bead store on Saturday afternoon Jeanne showed me some wire wrapping that she had started to do. She invited me to come any morning to learn how to do it. I fell in love with the look....so Tuesday morning I went over and started to learn how. This necklace took me THREE hours just to do the pendant. I am sure I can get faster but it will still take a couple hours at least to complete the necklace and earrings.

I started with a rose quartz flat rock about 1 x 1/2 inches and learned how to take the square wires and tape them together and then wire wrapped them. It is wrapped with sterling silver wire. I wrapped the stone with the four strands of wire and then held the rock in place while I worked the wire around it. We created a bail to hang it with and then started making the pretties. I bought the square wire, half round wire and round wire that each project needs. I purchased it in silver, gold, copper and antique bronze so I can sit up on the mountain this summer and made lots and lots of pretties. I even bought a pair of nylon clad pliers so I could bend the silver and gold wires without damaging the wire. You will be seeing a lot more of this style in the future. Besides wrapping the rock I also wrapped four little rose quarts beads. I placed two of them along with some rose pink quartz and some Swarovski crystals on the beaded necklace chain. I connected the pendant directly into the chain. The necklace is about 18 inches in length. The earrings (with a couple more wrapped beads) are hanging from sterling silver ear wires making it top quality.

If you scroll back up to the hot pink necklace I made for Kecia you will see that I wrapped some of the beads on her earrings.

If you have seen something you like then send me an email and I will work you a deal. I am looking forward to making lots of pretties!!

New Necklaces with Stones from Arizona!

I apologize for the weird colors in some of these pictures - I have tried to edit this post and delete these pictures but they won't delete!(???) So I will just ignore them

Of course, the way I uploaded theses four necklaces the one necklace that didn't come out of Quartzsite is the first one on the site. Actually, the amethysts in this necklace were bought by my husband Ed when he was back in Philadelphia a year ago- gorgeous polished stones interspersed with lavender Chinese crystals and fun antique silver toned beads. I call the necklace Amethyst Dream and it has a toggle closure. The earrings are made with the chinese crystals and a smaller antique silver bead. The earring fish hooks are made of sterling silver and the set sells for $25.00
The Pendant is removable - it is a Swarovski crystal element. The necklace is 20 inches in length.

Gilded Rose....this necklace and earring set is made up of tiger eye stones in different shapes with antique gold spacer beads. The pendant is a hammered antique gold toned rose. The necklace has a gold toned rose toggle closure and the earrings are chandelier style with a single drop. $20.00 set. The necklace is 27 inches in length with an addidtional 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 pendant
This 22 inch necklace is called Jasper Sandstorm. The polished rocks are made of jasper and I have added antique gold toned beads and also two strands of brown seed beads. The necklace has a toggle closure
I was going to bead the entire main necklace but since I was using real stone rather than plastic look alikes the weight of the necklace got too heavy. So I connected the beaded strand to gold toned chain. It worked great. $22.00 set The matching earrings are made of rock chips that match the jasper in the necklace.
This beauty is called Blue on Blue. I have taken a fun pre-made strand of blue rhinestone and silver toned bracelet that I split in half to frame the blue faceted stones.
The earrings are made with sterling silver round fish hooks. $25.00 a set

We had a great time in Quartzsite and even though we missed the rock and mineral show I was still able to pick up some gorgeous strands of polished rock beads. Keep an eye open for additional updates on this site.

New Stuff

I can't believe that it has been four weeks since my last blog - shame on me. I have slowed down on the number of watches and necklaces that I have made but there are some pretty ones to enjoy.

First of all I will show you my favorite pieces - The pearl watch above sells for $15 - simple elegance with pearls.

I made this necklace for a friend last November and still have another one of the gorgeous spray pendants - I don't have the great big clunky wooden beads but could find something similar if you fall in love with this one. The cost is $20.00 for the set.

This is a set that I have redone and it looks like a million dollars now - the wheels are actual polished stone and are called rhondels --and they would look great with jeans or a suit. Gold tone hypoallergenic earrings carry through with the same polished jasper beads. $22.00 set
This necklace is made up of crystals and pearls and banded stone beads. This is a one of a kind necklace that will be sure to bring the kudos your way. $20.00 set
I call this watch my gray pearl watch. It is one of the 'flat' bands with chinese crystals and rhinestone dividers ....$15
This is the red and black charm set. The necklace sells for $12 with matching earrings included - the watch is gorgeous all by itself also. Below is a side view of the different beads making up this watch....The watch sells for $18. SPECIAL PRICE ON THE WHOLE SET....$25.00

Another simple but sparkly watch band - this one is made of chinese crystals and spacer beads. The band is beaded right onto the watch face. This one sells for $15 also
This beauty is called Banded gold because of the two banded beads that add such richness to the whole watch. $18.00
I redid this watch because it was too bulky and too large for most wrists - it is made up of Chinese crystals, stones, and rhinestone spacers - all in a deep deep green. $18.00
Pearls of all different sizes and colors - a fun watch to wear. The watch face is threaded right onto the actual band. $15.00 for the whole set.
This is another view of the Lime green and crystal watch shown at the top of the blog. I put these colors together for my granddaughter and loved it so much that I created another one with most of the same beads. This one looks like SPRING!! $18.00

Last but not least is my newest lavendar and silver watch band. As you can see there are all sorts of beautiful beads making up this watch band - $18.00
